Nathan Reichert is serving his third term in the Iowa House of Representatives. He serves on the Appropriations, Commerce, Public Safety, Administrative Rules Review, and Environmental Protection committees, and is Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations subcommittee and is Chair of the Commerce Energy Sub-committee.
Nathan married Rebecca Ann McCleary in 2001. In 2002 his son, Simon Karl Reichert, was born followed by Spencer James Reichert in 2003, Ella Kennedy Reichert in 2008, and Emmett Eis Reichert in 2010.The Reicherts attend Wesley United Methodist Church, where Nathan is liturgist.
Nathan Karl Reichert was born on July 3, 1970 to E. Karl and Linda Reichert in Muscatine, Iowa. Nathan graduated from Muscatine High School, where he was active in student government, chorus, theatre, and debate. Nathan attended the University of Iowa, where he majored in history. He was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity and served as its President. Due to financial reasons, Nathan put his college career on hold. After working in the family construction business for one year, he transferred to the University of Northern Colorado. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Political Science in 1993. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Iowa Tippie School of Management with a Masters of Business Administration. He currently is an economic professor teaching on-line micro and macro economics with Iowa's community colleges.
Nathan is a member of the Small Business Developments Center Advisory Board, the Community College Working Group. He is also a ex-officio member of the Iowa Power Fund Board. He serves on the National Conference of State Legislatures committees on Agriculture and Energy and the High level radioactive waste work group.
Nathan owns a family farm that was settled by his mother’s family in the 1890s. It has been in the family for 100 years. He rents the land to a local farmer.
Nathan likes to go pheasant hunting and is a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He particularly likes to spend time on the Mississippi River on his boat and enjoys water-skiing. Nathan is activly involved in Pack 98 Cub Scouts with his sons Simon and Spencer.
